Meet the Fit U Coaches

Stacy Buster

I am the founder/owner of FIT U Training 360. I grew up in San Diego moving to West Texas during high school. I attended Texas Tech Univ. In 1987, I graduated with a BS in Exercise Science and a minor in biology. My desire to work in cardiac rehab led me to pursue my nursing license.

I became an RN in 1992 and worked in cardiac rehab for years before moving to Southern Maryland. This career choice allowed me to use both my college degree and my RN. When we first moved here, I worked at the local hospital as well as home health as an RN. In 2004, I started working at a local gym as a personal trainer, and eventually became the director of training. Realizing the need for something other than a basic gym here in SoMD, I had the vision for FIT U. I set out to develop a fitness and performance-based facility, which has since turned into more than I could have ever imagined back in 2011.

My husband Alan and I moved to St Mary's in January 2000 with our 3 daughters, Emily, Erin and Morgan(twins). One of the twins now lives in Morgantown, the other in NYC(both in fashion merchandising) and the oldest works at FIT U as well as teaches PE at a local elementary school. I love watching sports, especially soccer. I am also a huge animal lover, with a soft spot for dogs. We have three of our own rescued pups!! I enjoy vacatons at the lake, boating/jet skiing, hiking, & biking. I love working out with all the different "toys" I have at my disposal within FIT U. My favorite pastime, though, is spending time with my family

My philosophy regarding training: No matter the age, everyone is an athlete. Everyone has the ability to achieve their best, it just takes consistency and determination. Show up, do the work and always do your best!!

Emily Buster

I'm an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, specializiing in all ages, focusing on strength training as well as speed/agility.

I graduated from Salisbury University in May 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science as well as a Minor in Athletic Coaching. I have been working out of FIT U Training since returning home from college in the fall of 2016.

Fun Facts:

I live an active lifestyle, but am a firm believer in rest/recovery days. My soon to be husband, our dog, and being out on the water relaxing are some of my favorite pastimes along with reading a good book or binging a favorite show too. Snow is pretty and all, if I don’t have to go out in it, but I’d rather be in the sun, near water, relaxing.

My fitness philosophy:

You get what you put out. Get the form down right before adding weight, you prevent injury. And let’s be real, no one likes to be injured or sidelined.

Fitness is an integral part of life and I am here to help incorporate fitness into YOUR life whether you are just starting or have been a long time fitness enthusiast. As a lifelong athlete, I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and currently hold over 10 group fitness certifications. I also have my 500 hour Comprehensive Pilates Certification and a Master Coach for national fitness brand. I’ve spent time training various Navy commands, helping with their physical fitness needs and assisting other military clients prepare for their military fitness or physical readiness tests. I love empowering people with the knowledge and ability to approach fitness as training for everyday life versus working out because life happens!

Jacquelyn Cody

I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer who trains all ages, but began coaching to work with youth athletes.

I have had the opportunity to see first-hand how exercise, nutrition, and a sense of community can positively affect one’s life (and on the other hand, how the absence of those things degrades one’s quality of life).  I firmly believe that good food and exercise makes a huge impact on overall health.  My boys have also seen the advantages of healthy eating and exercise.  That is one benefit I did not count on when I first began my fitness journey—and when I really think about it, that benefit is really the most significant.

My goal is to give kids and teens a place where they can start to develop their own character and gain positive experiences. I truly believe that this program teaches kids and teens the value of hard work and determination.  It builds confidence, and integrity; these life skills will follow them far beyond the gym.  All kids and teens deserve a place where they are comfortable—their “safe” place.  I want that place to be at the gym-surrounded by a community that is enabling them to become the best they can be.

Training children and teens is very different from training adults.  I have studied youth fitness and developed a program based on how youth move.   Understanding the physical, emotional and cognitive stages of development and exercises that are contraindicated at each stage is crucial.  A youth program cannot simply be a watered-down version of an adult program.  Fitness development is a journey that should be enjoyed, not rushed.

My fitness philosophy?? Nobody cares.  Work harder.  Don’t be upset at the progress you don’t see when you refuse to put in the work.

Angela Smith

I have been an athlete and a yoga and fitness enthusiast since I was a kid. After a back injury, I realized I needed a change from my regular workouts to make sure I was nurturing my body. I started practicing aerial, and it was love at first hang! Wanting to introduce others to the magic of aerial, I obtained my Aerial 1 certification. After teaching aerial for a couple of years, I discovered a love for teaching on the water as well. In 2020, I completed Stand Up Paddleboard training, earning my PSUPA Flatwater 1 certification. In December of 2021, I completed my YTT 200 hours, certifying me as a registered yoga teacher. In May of 2022, I completed training for Stand up Paddleboard Yoga and Fitness. I love teaching adults, but I also have a passion for teaching kids and teens. It is important to me that everyone honor their bodies where they are today. Sometimes, it's through movement that we make the biggest discoveries about ourselves.

I am a hairstylist by trade, and I am an owner in my salon company. I am married with three children, one adult, and two teens. When I'm not working, I like to hang out with our many animals, craft, paddleboard, hike, travel, and spend time with my family.
